Data Architect and Developer

NEPC is looking for a Data Architect/Developer to support our Digital Strategy initiatives encompassing enterprise data management, Analytics, Reporting, AI/ML, and Visualizations to fundamentally change how employees and clients engage with data. This role will be responsible for analyzing & documenting requirements by studying system capabilities and business functions, constructing specifications, and designing new in-house and third-party systems and data solutions. They will also conduct testing, document procedures, and serve as a subject matter expert for process improvements, troubleshooting and system upgrades.

The right candidate should have experience in implementing change with technology and processes, operating strategically and tactically with a focus on delivering meaningful business solutions. Candidates should be able see big picture and understand granular details and should be able to describe in detail their specific roles on projects that affected data management processes, analytic capabilities, content management, dashboards and/or reporting with a specific emphasis on what changes stakeholders experienced as a result of these projects. Candidates should also have a passion for investment services and FinTech.

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Computer Science; an advanced degree is not required, but is preferred. High degree of computer proficiency – especially Microsoft products. Possesses business acumen and knowledge of business process and project management, as well as ability to initiate process change. Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively is required. Project Management experience for medium/large system implementation efforts preferred.  Must be exceptionally effective at collecting and documenting requirements. Must have domain knowledge in investment services and considerable knowledge of relational databases, analytics, and the design and development of efficient data integration solutions.

Highly skilled with a majority of the following: SQL Server, T-SQL, ETL tools (SSIS preferred), report writing (SSRS preferred), data modeling (ERwin), and scripting languages (Python – preferred, Javascript, Java, Powershell, VBA, Vbscript, JSON), JMS messaging or other messaging technology. Experience with R preferred.

  • Knowledge of NEPC systems is a plus (e.g., Denodo, Spotfire, Dynamics365, MSCRM, M-Files, Confluence, Adaptive, InvestorForce, Morningstar Direct, M-Files, Planview PPM etc.).
  • The ability to handle multiple projects and work streams independently, proactively, and collaboratively is required.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with web API integrations (SOAP & RESTful endpoints), and user interface design is a plus.
  • Data Management, Report Writing, Data Modeling, Data Architecture.

Asset-Liability Specialist

We are currently looking for an Asset-Liability Specialist with the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct pension asset-liability studies as well as asset allocation research
  • Develop and build pension liability models to support liability aware investment solutions
  • Provide support to our clients and consulting team regarding pension regulatory changes
  • Work with senior members of our research and consulting teams to understand the client’s investment objective and develop a custom long-term asset allocation

Research Consultant - Real Estate/Real Assets

Job Summary:

The general role will be as part of the real estate and real assets (“RE/A”) research team within NEPC’s broader research group. The primary job function will be to work as part of the RE/A team to analyze global market trends, identify attractive investment themes, identify and perform due diligence on investment managers, write research/white papers, and work with clients to build and structure RE/A investment portfolios. Clients include endowments, foundations, pension funds, Taft-Hartley plans, family offices, and other institutional clients. Candidates for this position will most likely be serving in a comparable role at a plan sponsor, investment management/consulting firm, or investment bank. 

Job Qualifications:

Seven plus years of investment experience required with significant experience in real estate or real assets. Experience in making direct real estate investments is a plus.

Highly developed computer skills, proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint required.  Qualified individuals must be comfortable with modeling, quantitative analysis, have outstanding writing skills and be comfortable with creating and giving professional oral presentations to colleagues and clients.   Candidates must be detail oriented, able to work independently in a fast-paced, multiple-task team environment. College degree required. Advanced degree and/or the CAIA® designation or CFA® designation (or progress toward these credentials) is a plus. It is expected that this individual be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  NEPC is a strong advocate of promotion from within, so excellent potential exists for professional growth.
