Job Description

Primary responsibility is to analyze monthly accounting data to measure investment performance for our clients.  Other responsibilities include interaction with custodian banks, reconciling portfolio returns, and creating customized graphs.  Each PA works with approximately 20 clients and is responsible for accurately calculating monthly portfolio returns and characteristics.  All types of investment transactions are tracked and processed using custom PC software.  Data is gathered from hard copy statements, and electronically using various bank downloads and data files.  Data input is required and is an important component of the job.  Each PA interacts with multiple analysts and consultants within NEPC, as well as with our clients’ custodians and investment managers.

Job Description

Investment analyst position working closely with our consulting staff, assisting in investment manager search, asset allocation studies, performance monitoring, preparation of client reports, special projects, and conducting due diligence research on investment management firms.

Job Summary:
Primary responsibility is a dedicated resource to the Performance Measurement team for training, support, quality assurance and new client start up.  You will be involved in the interviewing, selecting and training process for new Performance Analysts (“PA”), as well as on-going PA training, mentoring, developing and evaluation.  As a Senior Analyst, you will have more direct client interaction and responsibility for specific projects. You will have responsibility for our most complex clients and will be held to higher standards of quality and investment performance reporting. Other responsibilities include interaction with custodian banks, reconciling portfolio returns, and creating customized graphs.  You will be responsible for accurately calculating monthly portfolio returns and characteristics.  All types of investment transactions are tracked and processed using custom PC software.  Data is gathered from physical statements, and electronically using various bank downloads and data files.  Data input is required and is an important component of the job.  You will be interacting with multiple analysts and consultants within NEPC, as well as with our clients’ custodians and investment managers.  Additional responsibilities include:

  • Supervise a group of analysts and act as a group leader and mentor
  • Expand, maintain and administer Third Party vendor systems or processing capabilities
  • Help with client servicing; respond to client inquiries; perform follow-up on meeting action items
  • Assist the PA Manager in accomplishing the PA team objectives. Initiate, develop and implement special projects as necessary
  • Assist the PAs and Consultant Support Analysts with problem-solving and troubleshooting

Job Qualifications:
A minimum of three (3) – five (5) years of experience with investment performance measurement is required. Strong project management skills along with excellent attention to detail and quality control and audit experience needed.  Prior supervisory responsibilities required.  Time management and organizational skills are critical.  The right candidate must be highly dependable with good communications skills, both written and oral, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.   College degree required.  Advanced degree and/or the CIPM® or CFA® designation (or progress toward these credentials) is a plus.   Past experience with Investorforce, Morningstar, Bloomberg, Microsoft CRM and SharePoint along with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills is desired.
