BOSTON—December 12, 2019 — NEPC, LLC, one of the industry’s largest independent, full-service investment consulting firms, today announced the election of three new Partners and the promotion of four new Principals effective January 1, 2020. “These individuals have all contributed in a variety of ways to the success of NEPC and we fully expect that they will drive the future success of our firm,” said Michael Manning, Managing Partner of NEPC. The firm will now have 44 Partners and 19 Principals1.
The newly elected Partners include Sam Pollack, Matt Rowell, and Gary Wyniemko, who bring a variety of skills and knowledge to the leadership team. New Principals include Margaret Belmondo, Erin Faccone, Sebastian Grzejka and Melissa Mendenhall, who have demonstrated exceptional investment expertise and leadership throughout their careers. Sam Pollack, Principal, CAIA joined NEPC in 2015 and has 22 years of broad-based experience in investment consulting and financial services. He is a member of our Endowment & Foundation consulting practice. Sam is very proactive in networking with prospects and building a robust pipeline for the E&F Team. He has experienced great success winning new clients and has been instrumental in helping the E&F team grow. Sam has also had success in developing productive relationships for some of NEPC’s other client segments. He also co-led our two successful E&F client forums and has been a key consultant on many of our discretionary relationships. Sam previously held the position of Senior Consultant at DiMeo Schneider and Associates and earlier in his career, Vice President at Duff & Phelps, LLC. There he counseled the boards of directors of many prominent companies, while overseeing client relationships, managing internal service delivery teams and sourcing new business.
Matt Rowell, Principal joined NEPC in 2011 and is a member of the Corporate DB Team, leading our Insurance Practice. He co-developed the insurance business plan and is building an extensive network of prospects while shaping and reinforcing the NEPC brand in this space. The team has recently had several new business wins. Because of his efforts we are in a strong position to grow our insurance client base over the next 3-5 years. In addition, Matt has been a mentor for many NEPC employees and participated in the LEADING program. He is a member of the Global Asset Allocation Research Advisory Group and the Liability Driven Investing (LDI) Research Advisory Group. He is an entrepreneurial thinker who can help us continue to grow this important market segment. In addition, Matt services many large and complex clients across various teams. Prior to joining NEPC, Matt was a Senior Analyst at Wells Fargo & Company and he worked at Evergreen Investments with both defined contribution and insurance clients.
Gary Wyniemko, Principal, CFA joined NEPC in 2011 and brings over 15 years of investment expertise to our Healthcare team servicing a broad group of clients in the healthcare, E&F and high net worth areas. Gary has built a name for himself in the healthcare industry and strengthened NEPCs reputation. He was instrumental in developing and selling our enterprise risk model and speaks at industry conferences and roundtables as a subject matter expert. He has built strong relationships that have fostered new business opportunities. Gary has also been key in retaining large, complex clients who were considering making a change. Gary has managed and trained team members, utilizing strong mentoring skills while working closely with the analysts across the practice group to provide projects and learning opportunities. Prior to NEPC Gary worked at both Henry Ford Health System, Dura Automotive Systems, Inc., and as a Treasury Analyst at H&R Block Financial Advisors. His breadth of experience in asset allocation, performance reporting and defining and delivering on complex healthcare investment issues and challenges has made him a tremendous asset to NEPC.
Margaret Belmondo, CIMA joined NEPC in October 2016 with her investment experience dating back to 2001. Margaret sits on the Public Fund Team with broad responsibilities in all facets of client management, including investment policy development, asset allocation, investment manager selection, performance and risk measurement, and asset/liability studies. Margaret’s consultative style and ability to develop rapport with clients has differentiated her and she is involved in some very complex Public Fund relationships. In addition to her client service responsibilities, Margaret is an active member of the Impact Committee, Marketing Committee, and the Unfavorable News Committee. Margaret co-leads the Women’s Leadership Forum, an important forum for educating the firm on gender diversity and inclusion. Previously, Margaret was at the PFM Group where she was a Director in the asset management group. Prior to that she was a Senior Investment Consultant at SEI Investments.
Erin Faccone, CFA, CAIA joined NEPC in January 2011 and is the Director of Research Operations focused on developing new systems, processes and solutions to create greater efficiencies and higher quality output for both Research and Consulting. Prior to that, Erin was a key part of our Operational Due Diligence group where she conducted in-depth analysis of hedge funds including all aspects of a fund’s infrastructure, trading and reconciliation, risk management, compliance, and management. Erin’s strong project management and problem-solving skill set as well as her leadership on multiple high visibility projects has been a true asset to NEPC. Erin was also a member of the LEADING program. Prior to NEPC she was a Senior Research & Portfolio Analyst with KStone Partners, a startup hedge fund-of-funds manager, and an Analyst in the Client Management Group at Drake Management, an investment manager specializing in fixed income and macro strategies.
Sebastian Grzejka, CAIA joined NEPC in 2005 and is a member of the Endowment & Foundation Practice Group. Sebastian has emerged as a confident and reliable leader on the team, mentoring and managing analysts and leading long term client relationships while participating in several new client wins. In addition to his client activities, Sebastian is also a member of the Fixed Income Advisory Group. Additionally, Sebastian sits on the Alternative Assets Due Diligence Committee and is the Chair of the Public Markets Due Diligence Committee, which is responsible for reviewing, vetting and approving all prospective alternative and traditional strategies as well as to decide on action following any manager due diligence events. He also played a leadership role in designing and delivering the E&F client forum in both Boston and Chicago. Prior to joining NEPC, Sebastian worked at Smith Barney in their mutual fund analytics group and at Putnam Investments.
Melissa Mendenhall joined NEPC in 2013 and is Director of our Private Equity Research Group. She is responsible for managing and leading the team, conducting manager due diligence, providing educational overview materials for various private equity strategies and constructing investment plans for implementation in client portfolios. Melissa is known throughout the firm for her deep knowledge and technical expertise in the space. She is called upon by many practice groups to interact with their clients as a true subject matter expert. Melissa also provides strong management, development and mentoring to the Private Markets team members. Prior to joining NEPC in 2013, Melissa’s previous work experience includes serving as an Associate in the Primary Partnership Group at HarbourVest Partners, LLC and as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Global Consumer Group at Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. as well as marketing and strategy roles in the food industry.
