As more pension funds scrap dedicated hedge fund allocations in favour of using alternatives across their portfolios, the competition for assets is hotting up.
In July, the $17.2bn Illinois State Board of Investment (ISBI) joined a growing list of pension funds that are putting their hedge fund investments into asset buckets that correspond with the underlying asset classes.
