James’ investment career began in 1999, and he joined NEPC in 2007. As a Partner, James is a member of the Philanthropic Practice Group and works with healthcare clients, corporate defined benefit plans, and endowments and foundations. In support of his client relationships, James is responsible for overall investment program design, including policy development, asset allocation, manager selection and performance monitoring. James has assisted a number of Healthcare organizations in developing customized asset allocations for Operating Assets incorporating results from staff discussions and NEPC’s proprietary Enterprise Risk Model as well as custom LDI Glidepaths for pension portfolios. James is a co-chair of NEPC’s Asset Allocation Committee and a member of the Fixed Income Research Advisory Group and leads the firm’s research efforts on securities lending.
Prior to joining NEPC, James was a Senior Fixed Income Operations Manager at State Street Global Advisors. While at State Street he was responsible for all aspects of operations for over 200 Fixed Income Accounts and Mutual Funds with assets in excess of $100 Billion including: daily performance calculations, bond pricing, derivative valuation and trade control and maintaining internal portfolio management records. Prior to this, James spent two years overseeing the accounting, custody and pricing of State Street’s securities lending reinvestment pools.
James received his B.A. in History from Boston College. James holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
