NEPC Gives Back: Annual Year Up Basketball Tournament

April 4, 2017 / by Emma Twitchell

On Saturday, March 4, basketball teams made up of some of Boston’s working professionals, Year Up students and alumni gathered at the Boston University Fitness and Wellness Center for the Annual Year Up Basketball Tournament.

The program is a one-year intensive training program providing hands-on skills development, coursework eligible for college credit, corporate internships, and wraparound support.

Our own Scott Perry and Will Forde are both heavily involved in the organization and each year they rally the NEPC troops to volunteer at and play in the tournament.

This year, NEPC put up two teams and both made it relatively far. There were exciting plays, nail biter moments and a little bit of blood shed. We all thought that NEPC 1, consisting of Tim McCusker, Seth Bancroft, Seth Goldman and Brandon Parrish, were going to take home the gold but unfortunately were defeated in overtime after a suspense-filled tie game. There’s always next year.

Thanks to all who came out and participated and thanks to Amy Louise Photography for the action shots!
