Diversity is valuable not only in an investment portfolio, but in terms of investment managers themselves. Through our Emerging Manager Policy, we set out to find the best managers for our clients, and we work diligently to identify qualified small and emerging firms, particularly those owned by minorities and women.
Emerging Manager Research at NEPC is led by our Manager Diversity Program Advisory Committee. This Committee helps to set the strategic direction of our efforts in this area, provides thought leadership, and assists in identifying and vetting top performing managers in this space. Included among this group is Ms. Kristin Finney-Cooke, CAIA, Senior Consultant, who is a prominent thought leader in this area of Emerging, Minority, Women and Disabled Firms.
We have over 200 minority managers in our proprietary database, which are identified by being more than 50% MWDBE owned. Additionally, NEPC uses the eVestment database to support our proprietary manager search process. We utilize this outside database to help us identify new candidates. The majority and crux of our research process come from meeting managers directly to assess their value proposition and their ability to deliver it.
