As in past years, NEPC has conducted the Survey to capture data and trends around plan design, and to help plan fiduciaries better understand and measure the investment and administrative costs of their plans. While the law does not specify a permissible level of fees, it does require that fees charged to a plan be reasonable for the level of service provided.
Of particular interest this year, in addition to our typical summary, we offer specific comments on what we are seeing in the different defined contribution market segments. For example, 403(b) plans, such as those offered by healthcare and higher education systems, have received significant press in recent weeks.
