NEPC employees attended a volunteer day at the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) on Thursday, October 6, 2016.
As a group, we sorted through and inspected the donated food products and prepared them for distribution. We sorted 6,853 pounds of food which made a total of 5,425 meals possible!
The GBFB is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and one of the largest food banks in the country. Last year they distributed almost 54 million pounds of food which is enough to provide healthy meals to over 500,000 people. GBFB acquires food through food industry product donations, food drives and financial contributions that enable them to purchase additional high nutrient quality food.
