Asset Allocation Analyst

We are currently looking for an Asset Allocation Analyst/Senior Analyst with the following responsibilities:

  • Supports and works with senior members of our Research Team performing asset allocation and asset class research.

Hedge Fund Consultant - Long/Short Equities

Job Summary:

Candidates for this position will most likely be serving in a comparable role at a plan sponsor, investment manager or consulting firm specializing in hedge funds.  You will be responsible for the review, evaluation and analysis of equity long/short hedge funds and fund of funds within hedge fund research and serve as the primary contact with hedge fund managers in those strategies.  This includes identifying, interviewing and performing due diligence (qualitative and quantitative) on new managers not on our platform, as well as existing managers.  In addition, you will perform ongoing monitoring of the managers in your strategy and prepare quarterly reports on developments in your strategy.  It is expected that this individual will be involved with negotiation of investment commitments and relationships. Investment Contract Specialist

Job Summary:

In this role you will act as a primary document preparation and review point person for the Discretionary Services business.  Documents include subscription documents for commingled vehicles, hedge funds and private equity investments.  You will be expected to interact with asset management firms, hedge fund firms and private equity managers to request documentation for client investments.  Reporting to the Manager of Discretionary Operations, this role will also work closely with in-house Counsel to prioritize document review and preparation.  Experience with AML/KYC and CRS & Self-Certification documentation would be a plus. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for contacting investment management firms to request fund documents including LPAs, PPMs and subscription agreements
  • Ability to review high volumes of documentation with strong attention to detail, identifying any potential errors or areas of inconsistency
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, prioritizing work and communication with Legal Counsel and Discretionary team members on status of review process
  • Ownership for follow-up and resolution on any review issues, making sure any missing information is gathered in a timely fashion
  • Ability to meet deadlines in order to ensure that client investments are made in a timely fashion minimizing risk to NEPC
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve client issues in a service oriented manner

Performance Analyst - Defined Contribution

Primary responsibility is to analyze monthly accounting data to measure investment performance for our clients.  Other responsibilities include interaction with custodian banks, reconciling portfolio returns, and creating customized graphs.  Each PA works with approximately 20 clients.  All types of investment transactions are tracked and processed using custom PC software.  Data is gathered from hard copy statements, and electronically using various bank downloads and data files.  Each PA interacts with multiple analysts and consultants within NEPC, as well as with our clients’ custodians and investment managers.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that monthly data is received from each custodian bank in a timely fashion
  • Enter data our proprietary database promptly
  • Calculate portfolio returns and verify with the investment managers
