Joel Paula, CAIA

Joel is a research consultant in the traditional manager research group, where he assists with fixed income related research, manager searches, and technical projects.  Joel is the lead member of the Fixed Income Advisory Group and is also a member of the Emerging Managers Advisory Group.  He identifies new strategies for potential placements in NEPC’s clients’ plans and conducts due diligence on events to assess the level of impact to the clients’ plans.

In addition to his manager research responsibilities, Joel is a member of the Traditional Research Due Diligence Committee, which meets every other week to review the events of the preceding two weeks as they relate to the investment management community, and evaluate investment strategies for recommendation to clients.

Joel joined NEPC in 2003 and began his career in the investment industry in 2002.  Prior to joining NEPC, Joel worked as a mutual fund accountant with State Street Corporation, focusing primarily on fixed income and international equity funds. 

Joel received his B.S. in Finance from Bentley University and is currently pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.  Joel is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Designee.
